In 2018 every organisation has custom software that stores droves and droves of important, valuable and personal information. From human resource systems to patient record systems such as our in house Pandora X care system, platforms that record data are much abundant within the internal structures of 21st century businesses. Security however isn’t always a paramount feature for such systems.
This time last year a vicious worldwide ransomware attack named ‘WannaCry’ targeted computers by encrypting data and demanding ransom payments in the Bitcoin cryptocurrency in order to relieve the systems of the ‘worm - like’ malware. The attack was estimated to have affected more than 200,000 computers across 150 countries, with total damages ranging from hundreds of millions to billions of dollars.
The NHS, Britains national healthcare serviced were left vulnerable during the attack only because cyber-security steps were not strictly followed. At least 6,900 NHS appointments were cancelled as a result of the attack and at least 139 people potentially with cancer, who had urgent referrals also had their appointments cancelled. The NHS said no patient data had been compromised or stolen but the knowledge that such a sheer volume of personal data was at risk is terrifying especially as the world moves forward technologically.
The Pandora X care system is an extremely user friendly system used in care facilities to store patient files electronically, report incidents and for rota management as well. The system is clear and simple platform use regardless of the vast amount of data it holds. Many might assume that it’s ease of access might correlate to a system of lesser security. However, that is not the case.
The Pandora X care system is intricately laced with security features such as a which firewalls that takes the role of a ‘virtual security guard’. The firewall provides security to the all areas of the systems. It creates a barrier between the computer and any unauthorized program trying to come in through the Internet. With hacker attacks, obscure data leaks, and the constant unlawful use of user personal information becoming rampant as the years progress Pandora X will continue to take many various precautionary measures to provide full data protection to their clientele base.
